Course overview

The 2D and 3D animation course after 12th in Ludhiana

The animation course in Ludhiana at techcadd runs from the twelve principles of animation through 2D character work to Blender modelling, texturing, rigging, lighting and rendering — the full pipeline, ending in a showreel you can send anywhere.

Animation is the longest and most demanding course in this column, and the one with the least local employment and the widest reach. There is real animation work in Ludhiana — explainer videos for brands, product visualisation for manufacturers, motion graphics for agencies, title and effects work for the Punjabi media scene — but the larger market is remote and studio work in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, and abroad.

The course is built accordingly. You learn the principles first because they are what separates animation from movement, then 2D character animation, then the 3D pipeline in Blender end to end — modelling, UVs and texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, shading and rendering. Every stage ends in a finished piece rather than a saved file, because a showreel is the qualification in this field.

It asks for patience and hours more than talent. Six to eight months is a real commitment at eighteen and it is fair to say so before anyone enrols.

  • The twelve principles taught as exercises, not as a slide
  • Both pipelines covered — 2D motion and full 3D
  • A finished, rendered and edited shot rather than turntables

Straight after 12th

Animation after 12th: the honest version

This is the longest, hardest and least locally-employable course in this column. It is also the one with the highest ceiling, and both facts should reach you before you enrol.

  1. Any stream, including yours

Any stream, and no drawing ability required — 3D in particular rewards patience and spatial thinking more than draughtsmanship. What it does require is comfort with sitting on one shot for hours.

  2. It fits around a degree

Six to eight months is long enough that most students take it alongside a full degree at GNDEC, PAU, SCD Government College, Khalsa College, Government College for Girls, Ramgarhia, PCTE and Gulzar Group rather than instead of one. That is the sensible arrangement here: a degree as the fallback, the reel as the actual qualification.

  3. The question your parents will ask

A first animation job in Punjab pays ₹12,000 to ₹20,000 a month and is more likely to be motion graphics than character work. Studio roles elsewhere and remote per-asset work pay considerably more. Anyone promising a large local animation salary at entry is not being straight with you.

  4. What the first year actually looks like

Cleanup, in-betweens, simple modelling and other people's corrections. Every animator's first year looks like this. What decides the second year is whether the personal reel kept growing while you did it.

Take this course if the craft interests you enough to do it in the evenings anyway. If you want the shortest route to a salary, graphic design or video editing is the more honest answer.

The full programme runs 6–8 months. Where you finish is a question of pace rather than of syllabus — everyone covers all of it.

The case for it

A showreel is the degree in this field.

Studios do not read certificates, they watch ninety seconds. Everything in this programme is arranged around what is in those ninety seconds when you finish.

90sShowreel you leave with2D, 3D, modelling and motion
  • You learn Animation the way it is used in production, with the workflow, tooling and standards a working team expects. Nothing in the syllabus exists only to fill hours.

  • Sessions are hands-on. You do every example, break it, and fix it. Each module closes with a lab task that has to work before you move on.

  • Six shipped finished projects — the kind of work an interviewer can open, click through and question you on.

  • A structured final phase: portfolio review, profile cleanup, aptitude and role-specific practice, mock interviews and placement support.

Why this course

Why should you choose this course?

Six things we hold ourselves to for every 2D / 3D Animation batch that starts in Ludhiana.

  • 01

    Industry-focused curriculum

Syllabus built around what Animation teams actually ship — no filler modules, no theory that never reaches your hands.

  • 02

    Practical learning

Every concept lands in the tool the same day. You work in Animation during each class, not just in your notes.

  • 03

    Real-world projects

Build with real requirements, real data and real problems — from the first task to a finished, reviewable deliverable.

  • 04

    Mentor guidance

Trainers who work with Animation daily review your work, your logic and your approach line by line.

  • 05

    Career preparation

Resume, portfolio, aptitude rounds and interview practice built into the last phase of the course.

  • 06

    Placement support

Interview referrals, mock rounds and continued doubt support after the course ends.

Who can join

Who this animation course after 12th is for

School leavers who want the craft rather than a quick skill, and who understand that this is the longest course on this page. No drawing ability assumed; a great deal of patience assumed.

  • Students after 12th

You have finished school and want a skill that pays before a degree does. The first module assumes you have never opened Animation in your life.

    No background needed
  • College students

BCA, B.Tech, B.Sc, BBA, B.Com — any stream. You learn Animation alongside your degree and finish with projects your syllabus was never going to give you.

    Weekend batches
  • Final year and fresh graduates

You are months away from interviews and need work to show, not marks to quote. The final phase is portfolio, mock rounds and referrals.

    Placement support
  • Working professionals

You already have a job and want Animation on top of it. Evening and weekend batches exist for exactly this, and the project work is yours to schedule.

    Evening batches
  • Career switchers

You are coming from a different field entirely — operations, teaching, accounts, sales. Every module starts from why, not from jargon.

    Start from zero
  • Freelancers and business owners

You want to do this work yourself instead of paying for it. You leave able to build, run and judge Animation work on your own terms.

    Practical only

What you actually need before day one

6–8 months · Classroom & online batches

  • A laptop or desktop — we help you set it up in the first session
  • A stable internet connection for the online batches
  • None, though drawing confidence helps in the 2D half. A machine with a dedicated GPU makes the 3D modules far more comfortable.
  • Basic English reading — the tools and their documentation are in English
  • About 6-8 hours a week outside class for practice
  • Willingness to finish the lab task before the next class

Not sure which of these you are, or whether the timing works around what you already do? That is exactly what the call is for. Ask about 2D / 3D Animation

Certification

Get certified in 2D / 3D Animation

A techcadd Animation certificate and an internship letter for the project phase, behind the thing that actually matters — a finished showreel with your modelling, rigging and animation work in it.

  • Course completion certificate

Issued in your name on completion of the 2D / 3D Animation syllabus, with a reference number an employer can verify with us.

  • Project certificate

A separate certificate for the capstone you submit, naming the project so the work is attached to the credential.

  • Internship letter

Students who complete the live-project phase receive an internship letter covering the duration and the work delivered.

  • Portfolio you own

Every file, repository and deployed link stays yours — the part of the credential a reviewer can actually open.

techcadd has been training in Ludhiana since 2007. The certificate carries that record; the Animation work you did carries the rest.

Salary outlook

What animation pays, and where the work is

The honest position: local animation work in Ludhiana is thin and the national and remote market is large. Read the second and third columns as the real ones here.

Ranges are indicative, drawn from what our own students report and from openings we see through the placement cell. Actual offers depend on your portfolio, the interview and the company — nobody can promise you a number, and we do not.

  • 2D animator, 3D generalist, modeller, rigging artist, motion designer and visual effects assistant. Motion design is the most employable of those in Punjab; character animation almost always means a studio elsewhere or remote work.

  • Slow to start, then good, and it follows specialisation. Generalists get the first job; riggers, lighters and character animators build the careers, because those are the roles studios can never fill quickly.

  • Increasingly, yes, and internationally. Modelling, rigging and motion graphics are contracted remotely on a per-asset basis, and a strong reel is the entire application.

  • Locally: agencies making explainer and product videos, manufacturers wanting product visualisation, the Punjabi music and film scene for titles and effects, and architecture studios. Nationally: animation and VFX studios in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, gaming, and ed-tech.

  • The reel is what an animation degree or a foreign design-school application is assessed on, and this course produces exactly that.

Future scope

The road ahead for Animation

A course ends; the field does not. Here is the honest version of what the next few years look like for Animation — where the roles go, and what is shifting underneath them while you learn.

  1. Year 0–1

Get in on proof of work

Entry roles such as 2D Animator open as soon as you have projects that run. At this stage nobody is asking about your marks — they are asking you to walk through something you built.

  2. Year 2–4

Specialise and get paid for it

The generalists plateau; the specialists do not. Depth in one part of Animation — the part your first job leans on hardest — is what moves you towards 3d generalist work.

  3. Year 5+

    Own the decisions

Architecture, standards, hiring and mentoring. The technical skill is assumed by now; what you are paid for is judgement, and judgement only comes from having shipped things that mattered.

Frequently asked questions

Questions before you enrol

The 12 things people ask most often about the 2D / 3D Animation course at techcadd Ludhiana.

  • Yes, particularly for the 3D half. Modelling, rigging, lighting and rendering are technical crafts and reward patience over draughtsmanship. The 2D module teaches the drawing you need for animation specifically, which is a much narrower skill than general illustration.

  • Blender for the full 3D pipeline, After Effects for motion graphics and compositing, and 2D animation tooling for the character work. Blender is used deliberately because it is free — you can keep practising at home from day one without a licence.

  • 6–8 months, the longest programme in this column. The pipeline genuinely takes that long to cover properly, and the final phase is the showreel.

  • Some — explainer and product video work, motion graphics for agencies, titles and effects for the regional media scene. The larger market is studios in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, plus remote per-asset work. We would rather say that plainly than imply a local studio scene that is not here.

  • Graphic design if you want to be earning within months and locally. Animation if the craft itself pulls at you and you can commit to a longer run with a wider job search at the end. Counsellors will give you the same answer in person.

  • The complete 2D / 3D Animation programme runs for 6–8 months depending on the batch you choose. Weekday, weekend and fast-track options are available, along with shorter modules for students who only need the fundamentals.

  • Students after 12th aiming at animation and VFX, designers adding motion, and gamers who want to build rather than play.

  • None, though drawing confidence helps in the 2D half. A machine with a dedicated GPU makes the 3D modules far more comfortable.

  • Blender, After Effects, DUIK, Cycles, EEVEE, UV / PBR, Graph Editor and Premiere Pro — plus the day-to-day tooling and workflow that surrounds them in a real team.

  • Yes. Each module closes with a lab project, and the course ends with a capstone you can put on your portfolio and defend in an interview.

  • Placement support includes resume and portfolio review, aptitude and role-specific practice, mock interviews and interview referrals through our hiring network.

  • Yes. You receive a techcadd 2D / 3D Animation completion certificate, and a separate project certificate for the capstone you submit.
